MK-KY Building at IKN is being built, ready to support the operation of the New Capital in 2028

JAKARTA - The construction of the Constitutional Court (MK) and the Judicial Commission (KY) building in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP) of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN), Sepaku District, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, continues. Until the beginning of August 2026, the physical progress of the two buildings has reached 12.41 percent.

Head of the IKN Authority Basuki Hadimuljono said the judicial area would begin to be built in December 2025 as part of the second phase of construction of the IKN.

"The IKN judicial area will officially be built in December 2025 in the construction of the second phase of construction," said Basuki, quoted from Antara, Sunday, August 2.

Basuki explained that the judicial area was built on an area of about 15 hectares. The area will be the location of the Supreme Court building, the Constitutional Court, the Judicial Commission, the Justice Plaza, the mosque, and the network of roads in the area.

According to him, overall the progress of the construction of buildings in the judicial area has reached an average of 11.8 percent. Meanwhile, the construction of roads in the area along 7.8 kilometers has reached 27.6 percent.

"Especially the progress of the physical development of the MK Building and the Judicial Commission is an average of 12.41 percent," he said.

The Constitutional Court building will have a building area of approximately 44,691 square meters. The building will be equipped with a plenary court room with a capacity of 400 people, a meeting room for judges, an institutional work room, and various other supporting facilities.

The development of the judicial area in KIPP IKN has a budget of around Rp. 3.1 trillion. The government targets all projects to be completed by December 2027 so that they can support the full operation of the Nusantara Capital in 2028.

Meanwhile, Constitutional Justice Arsul Sani expressed optimism that the construction of the judicial and legislative areas in IKN could be completed according to target.

"It is optimistic that the construction of IKN will be in accordance with the schedule or target that has been determined," said Arsul Sani when reviewing the construction of the IKN judicial and legislative areas as well as planting trees in the area.

The IKN judicial area is located to the west of the State Palace and is designed to face directly the legislative area as part of the center of state power in the new capital.
