DKI Damkar Officer Dies While on Duty to Handle Garbage Fire in Kramat Jati
JAKARTA - The head of the Cepu Group Team in the Cipayung Sector, Andriyono, died while carrying out his duties in handling a fire in a pile of garbage on Jalan Penggilingan Baru, Dukuh Village, Kramat Jati District, East Jakarta, Saturday, August 1.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) Bayu Meghantara explained that the fire was reported at 07.02 WIB. A total of 10 fire trucks and 50 personnel were deployed to the location, with the extinguishing operation starting at 07.11 WIB.
The fire was successfully localized at 11.35 WIB. After that, officers continued the cooling process starting at 13.15 WIB to decompose materials that still have the potential to burn.
"In carrying out this operation, the deceased was tasked with finding water sources as part of operational support and was not in a position to directly attack or extinguish fires," Bayu said in his statement, Sunday, August 2.
While connecting the hose, Andriyono suddenly complained of chest pain. His colleagues then immediately asked for medical help and provided initial treatment at the location before he was evacuated to Harapan Bunda Hospital.
"The deceased received initial treatment at the location before being evacuated to Harapan Bunda Hospital," said Bayu.
At the hospital, the medical team performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). However, Andriyono was declared dead at 13.30 WIB.

The DKI Jakarta Gulkarmat Office stated that it would fulfill the deceased's rights in accordance with applicable regulations and express condolences to the family left behind.
