Donny Oskaria Says Private Sector Will Be Given More Space After State-Owned Enterprises Consolidation

JAKARTA - The head of BP BUMN Donny Oskaria said that the consolidation of SOEs would open up a larger space for private entrepreneurs. The government does not want all sectors to continue to be carried out by SOEs.

Donny conveyed this after President Prabowo Subianto's meeting with the business world at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Friday, July 31.

According to Donny, the meeting discussed the concept of Indonesia Incorporated. The point is, the government and the business world work more closely to encourage the national economy.

"In principle, as often conveyed by the President, we want to certainly form Indonesia Incorporated," said Donny.

He said President Prabowo also heard input from business actors. On the other hand, the government conveyed the vision of the economy in the future.

Donny said the President hoped that such meetings could be held more often so that the government could get direct input from business actors in the field.

"The President hopes that this meeting may be held frequently so that we get a lot of input from business actors in the field," he said.

When asked about the President's direction regarding collaboration between SOEs and the private sector, Donny said that the opportunities for cooperation would be more open after the consolidation of SOEs.

"Of course the President conveyed that with the consolidation of SOEs, there will be many opportunities for private entrepreneurs," said Donny.

He emphasized that not all sectors must be worked on by SOEs. Sectors that can be worked on by the private sector will be given to private business actors.

"Because not all sectors will be carried out by SOEs. We want, of course, many sectors that should be carried out by the private sector will be given to the private sector," he said.

Donny said this direction was part of Indonesia Incorporated, namely working together between the government and business actors to build the economy.

During the meeting, Donny said there was no specific discussion about the electric motorcycle industry. The discussion was more about the cooperation of the Kadin with the government.
