Sulit Government to Pay Salaries, the Ministry of Home Affairs Asked Not to Fire Employees in a Hurry

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs has asked local governments not to rush to dismiss employees due to difficulties in paying salaries after cutting transfers to the region. The fiscal condition of each region must be examined first before drastic steps are taken.

Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya said the government was still mapping out areas that were experiencing financial difficulties.

"We are still mapping out which areas have difficulty paying salaries," said Bima at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, July 28.

He asked regional heads not to make the dismissal or termination of employees as the first choice.

According to Bima, local governments must comb through fiscal capacity and ensure that the condition is truly an emergency. After that, the issue needs to be communicated to the central government.

"Don't be too easy to take drastic steps like dismissal and dismissal. The fiscal capacity must be combed first," he said.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, said Bima, will find a way out together with the regions that are really facing budget pressure.

Regarding the possibility of evaluating the reduction of the TKD, Bima said the discussion was still ongoing. The Ministry of Home Affairs is communicating with Commission II of the DPR and the Ministry of Finance.

"This is still being discussed and communicated with Commission II and the Ministry of Finance," he said.

Bima did not mention the number of regions that had difficulty paying salaries or the amount of budget pressure they were facing.
