Protested, Dishub Removes Road Bike Signs Can Enter JLNT

JAKARTA - The DKI Transportation Agency will remove signs that allow road bike users to cross the Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang Nontol Flyover (JLNT).

This was done based on an agreement with the Indonesian Bike to Work (B2W) community and the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency.

"As a symbol of the agreement, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency will remove the installed signs containing the words "except road bikes"," said Head of B2W Indonesia Poetoet Soedarjanto in his statement, Saturday, June 12.

Poetoet said the removal of the signs would be carried out with interested parties. "This will also be a symbol of the end of the JLNT trial period for road bikes," he said.

Later, the DKI Provincial Government will make a decision after the results of the agreement and road bike trials on JLNT for the last three weeks. Poetoet admitted that his party will respect the decision to be made, as long as it does not conflict with the applicable rules.

"B2W Indonesia, the Pedestrian Coalition, the Indonesian Road Safety Association, and the Committee for the Elimination of Leaded Gasoline will respect any agreement obtained from the discussion forum as long as it does not conflict with applicable laws and regulations, does not conflict with the principle of road safety, and does not conflict with the principles of road safety. equality in cycling to avoid the gap between rich cyclists and poor cyclists," he explained.

Actually, today B2W Indonesia plans to hold a protest called Black Day. This action is planned to be held at the end of the JLNT in the direction of Kota Kasablanka on Sunday, June 13 at 06.00-07.00 WIB.

This action was carried out by Bike to Work as a form of protest and social control against the discriminatory policies made by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, through the DKI Transportation Service.

Bike to Work reminds policy makers to be consistent with the rules and not discriminatory, according to Law Number 38 of 2004, where the function of roads is for transportation.

"Policies must be implemented with the principle of equality and proportionality, so that all types of transportation modes must be treated equally and equally. Back to the initial rules of JLNT Casablanca, motorbikes are not allowed, so it is proper that bicycles are also not allowed," said Poetoet to VOI, some time ago.
