Police Confront Alphard Owner Who Broke Red Light

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya will summon and clarify the owner of the Toyota Alphard car that went viral after breaking through the street crossing lights allegedly using a fake number plate in the Central Jakarta area.

The Head of the Traffic Police Sub-Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police, AKBP Ojo Ruslani, explained that in addition to the vehicle owner, the police also summoned the security officer who had been involved in a fight with the driver of the Alphard at the scene.

"I will make a clarification call to the owner of the Alphard, then a clarification call to the security who got into a fight with the driver. The summons was made on Friday (24/7) and Monday (27/7)," said Ojo as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 23.

Ojo explained that the inspection was carried out following a viral upload on social media showing the luxury car breaking through the pedestrian crossing lights.

After the initial examination separately, both parties will be brought together to undergo a confrontation process at the Subdit Gakkum office.

"The in-depth process will cover all aspects of the incident, ranging from the chronology of events, the validity of documents and vehicle number plates, to determining the articles of traffic and criminal offenses that can be charged," he said.

He also committed to acting neutrally and transparently as a mediator in handling this case without siding with any party.

"Don't let the police be biased. The driver of the Alphard must be sanctioned when there is a violation. Likewise, the security, if there is a violation, he must also be sanctioned, at least a reprimand," said Ojo.

Previously, a viral video circulated on the Instagram social media through the @jakpus24jam.id account which showed a Toyota Alphard car that was seen breaking through a red light until it was scuffled with security.
