Intimidation of Doctor Icha, 23 Witnesses After Being Examined and Reported, Immediately Called by the Police

KUPANG - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police are continuing to investigate the alleged case of intimidation against doctor Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni or doctor Icha. Until now, the Joint Investigation team has examined 32 witnesses to uncover the alleged intimidation reported by the victim's family.

Director of Criminal Investigation (Dirreskrimum) of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol Sigit Haryono, said that dozens of witnesses came from the North Central Timor (TTU) Regency General Hospital (RSUD), Leona Kefamenanu Hospital, and Icha's family doctor.

This case relates to a report of alleged intimidation involving three members of the TTU Regency DPRD, namely TL from the Golkar Party, NT from the PKB, and VK from the PDI Perjuangan (PDIP), as well as a veterinarian with the initials MMS who is the wife of NT. The incident was reported to have occurred at the Leona Kefamenanu Hospital emergency installation (IGD) on July 13, 2026.

"The steps we have taken are to take statements from several people who know about the threat. Starting from witnesses at the TTU Hospital, Leona Kefamenanu Hospital and Icha's family doctor," said Sigit when confirmed, Monday, July 13.

After examining the witnesses, investigators scheduled an examination of four people who were reported in the case.

"This week we will take statements from the reported," he said.

In addition to examining the accused, investigators will also ask for the opinions of a number of experts to strengthen the investigation process.

According to Sigit, experts who will be asked for information come from various fields, namely psychology, forensics, criminology, and criminal law.

"These experts who can provide information are from psychologists, forensic experts, criminologists, and criminal law experts. After that, we will only conduct a case title," he said.

Sigit explained that the title of the case was carried out to determine whether the events reported by the family of Doctor Icha met the elements of a criminal act.

"If based on the title of the case, the event is a criminal act, of course it will be followed up with the investigation process," he explained.

He added that until now the handling of the case is still in the investigation stage. In this process, investigators continue to collect witness statements, evidence, and other information needed before determining the next legal steps.

"The investigation is a series of activities carried out by investigators in order to collect the testimony of witnesses, collect evidence, and others to determine whether this event is a criminal event or not. If this event is a criminal event, a new investigation will be carried out," he explained.

Sigit emphasized that the NTT Police were committed to handling this case professionally by referring to the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) in force and standard operating procedures (POS).

"We will act professionally in accordance with the new KUHAP and in accordance with the POS to search for and make a light of an event, so that it can be followed up in the future," he said.

He hopes that the entire series of investigations will produce an objective and legally accountable conclusion.

"Our goal is of course to witness a process that can be held accountable," he said.

The NTT Police confirmed that the investigation process is still ongoing. The results of the examination of witnesses, evidence, and the opinions of experts will later become the basis for determining whether the case of alleged intimidation of Icha doctors can be upgraded to the investigation stage.
