Ukrainian PM Yulia Svyrydenko confirms her resignation plans

JAKARTA - Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on Sunday confirmed her resignation plan, shortly after President Volodymyr Zelensky announced plans to overhaul the government and replace the current Cabinet.

"I am proud to have had the honor of leading the government. Thank you to the entire government team for their hard work," wrote PM Yulia Svyrydenko on Facebook, as reported by Anadolu (13/7).

Previously, President Zelenskyy said on Telegram, Ukraine needs an updated Cabinet and he has discussed the changes with the prime minister who will soon resign.

"We agreed that changes require a cabinet update. I thank Yulia for her effective work as prime minister, for her productive years as part of the Ukrainian team, and propose that she lead a new important area of work," he said.

PM Svyrydenko himself is known to have been in office since July 17, 2025, and replaced Denys Shmyhal, who is currently serving as the first deputy prime minister and energy minister.

Following Svyrydenko's resignation, Shmyhal is expected to become the interim prime minister until the Ukrainian Parliament approves a new government.
