Held since July 8, the D-8 Halal Expo Indonesia 2026 successfully recorded a transaction commitment of around US$ 13.4 million or around Rp. 242,279,370,000 involving Indonesian business actors with their partners from the D-8 countries.
Overall, the 1st D-8 HEI presented 80 booths filled with 80 companies from D-8 member countries and other countries, such as Palestine and Sri Lanka, and attracted buyers from non-D-8 countries, such as the United States, Russia and Singapore.
Meanwhile, in terms of visitors, D-8 HEI managed to attract more than 5,000 visitors from within and outside the country.
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in its statement that the D-8 HEI recorded 29 business matching sessions that brought together exporters, manufacturers, and potential trading partners. From these sessions, a number of memorandums of understanding (MoU) and letters of intent (LoI) were signed by Indonesian business actors with various companies from D-8 member countries.
The total value of the entire deal is projected to reach around 13.4 million US dollars, including spices and halal industrial raw materials, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wrote in its statement, as quoted on Sunday (12/7).
The implementation of the first D-8 HEI was able to strengthen Indonesia's position as one of the centers that drive the world's halal economic trade, which is also one of the priorities of the Indonesian Chairmanship of the D-8.
In addition, the D-8 HEI is also expected to be able to increase the halal value chain in the region and globally, increase the trade value of halal products and other raw materials to D-8 member countries and other partner countries, and strengthen trade cooperation among D-8 members.
In addition to recording business transaction values, the D-8 HEI is also an event to facilitate networking in increasing the capacity of halal economic actors, sharing experiences and technology, and bringing together innovators and investors.
Various interests and understandings of cooperation that were achieved during the D-8 HEI will be followed up so that the output of activities is long-term and sustainable.
It is known that D-8 HEI is part of the Indonesian Chairmanship of the D-8 period 2026-2027 which will take place from July 8 to 12, 2026.
Carrying the theme "Strengthening D-8 Halal Economy Through International Collaboration", this event is designed as a main platform for business actors, industry players, investors, and policymakers to strengthen the halal supply chain in the D-8 environment while opening wider access to the global market.
D-8 HEI will support Indonesia to become one of the halal economic hubs. Through D-8 HEI, business-to-business (B2B) cooperation between D-8 and beyond countries in various halal flagship sectors is expected to be closer.
This synergy is also a strategic step to support the target of achieving intra-D-8 trade volume of 500 billion US dollars by 2030. Not only presenting medium and large-scale corporations, D-8 HEI also carries UMKM players from the culinary, fashion, handicraft, halal tourism, digital, and other sectors.
The D-8 HEI was held thanks to the collaboration between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Committee for Islamic Economic and Finance, the Halal Product Guarantee Organizing Agency, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and PT. Angan Kreasi Semesta as the event organizer.
The activity also received support from government agencies, business associations, research institutions, as well as related individuals and organizations in the halal economy.
