Febrie Adriansyah 'Algojo' Jokowi yang Dikorbankan

JAKARTA - The corruption case of PT Asabri and Jiwasraya is not just a common financial crime, but a megaskandal that is full of political nuances, abuse of power, and a bet on public trust in the management of social security funds.

Intelligence expert and former member of BIN, Colonel (Ret.) Sri Radjasa Chandra said that the Jiwasraya and Asabri megaskandal in the past were suspected to be not purely to uphold justice, but a political instrument to hold hostage big figures. The two big figures in question are none other than Aburidzal Bakrie and Airlangga Hartarto from the Golkar Party.

This legal case is said to be used as a trump card or political bargaining position so that Golkar's ambitions are fully subject to and enter the orbit of power of the palace which is being led by Jokowi.

"The Jiwasraya case (which is closely related to the interests of Aburizal Bakrie) and Asabri were deliberately raised by the then ruling regime (Jokowi) using the hands of Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah. The goal is suspected of holding Airlangga Hartarto (who was then the General Chairman of Golkar) and the senior Golkar faction (Aburizal Bakrie)," said Intelligence Expert Colonel (Retired) Sri Radjasa Chandra to VOI, via cellphone, Sunday, July 12.

Airlangga Hartarto, who served as Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, was at the top of the formulation of fiscal and macroeconomic policies when the scandal broke out. Together with Sri Mulyani, the then Minister of Finance, he played a role in coordinating systemic rescue measures due to the default of Jiwasraya and Asabri.

"Including overseeing the formation of a state-owned insurance holding company (Indonesia Financial Group/IFG) and transferring customer policies so as not to trigger a more massive financial market confidence crisis," he said.

Golkar Enters Jokowi's Trap

PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero) investment is suspected of not only being stuck in a company owned by two suspects Heru Hidayat and Benny Tjokrosaputro. A loud protest was delivered by convicted Benny Tjokrosaputro (Bentjok) during the trial. He felt that he was made a scapegoat in the jiwasraya issue and 'sang' loudly that there was a flow of jiwasraya funds into Bakrie group shares at a not small price.

BPK noted that Jiwasraya funds were invested in at least 9 to 10 Bakrie Group companies, including PT Bakrieland Development Tbk (ELTY), PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk (BNBR), PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI), and PT Bakrie Telecom Tbk (BTEL).

These two megaskandals have emerged massively to the public - especially in the period from 2018 to the end of 2019 (when Jiwasraya announced a total default and the Attorney General's Office, where Jampidsus held by Febrie Adriansyah began to conduct aggressive investigations)

Based on this fact, Sri Radjasa Chandra bluntly said that the investigation of Jiwasraya was directed by Jokowi's order to "hostage" Aburizal Bakrie (whose business group is closely related to the Jiwasraya investment portfolio). The Asabri case is not much different from Jiwasraya. According to Radjasa, this case was raised in such a way that Airlangga Hartarto's position (the General Chairman of Golkar at that time replaced Setya Novanto in December 2017) was also hostage, ensuring the full compliance of the towering party with the palace agendas.

In the era of Joko Widodo, the figure of Febrie Adriansyah who holds the position of Jampidsus at the Attorney General's Office is a mainstay figure to execute and dismantle giant corruption targets, including Asabri and Jiwasraya. In the public eye, this step is seen as aggressive law enforcement, but behind the scenes, he acts as a legal executioner who assigns the palace's political mission.
