Nadiem's Birthday Message Linked to Amnesty, Dasco: I Don't Mean It That Way
JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad revealed that he did not have any intention regarding the birthday greeting to former Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim who is now a defendant in the alleged corruption in the procurement of Chromebook-based laptops.
He also admitted that many parties had asked about his words, which he uploaded on his social media account. When asked about the potential for amnesty for Nadiem, he did not confirm it.
"I'm also confused about the answer, yes. Because in fact there is no such intention," said Dasco as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 6.
According to him, currently the manager of his social media account is getting used to saying happy birthday to a number of figures, one of which is to Nadiem and also to other figures.
"So my new admin, he then got used to it, now, to say (to) every figure whose birthday, to give birthday greetings on my account," he said.
When asked about the provision of legal assistance, according to him, Nadiem is currently being assisted by a lawyer who handles his case.
"Of course, it has been done by his lawyer, right. How about legal aid?" he said.
On Saturday (4/7), Dasco through his official Instagram account @sufmi_dasco, uploaded a photo of a happy birthday, with a caption addressed to Nadiem. The upload then reaped various comments from Instagram users.
