Success, Swiss Gilas Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1
JAKARTA - The Swiss national team successfully won their first victory after defeating Bosnia and Herzegovina with a score of 4-1 in the second match of Group B of the 2026 World Cup at the Los Angeles Stadium, United States on Friday morning WIB.
After playing without a goal throughout the first half, Switzerland scored four goals through Johan Manzambi, Ruben Vargas, and a penalty from Granit Xhaka. Bosnia was only able to narrow the gap through Ermin Mahmic's goal towards the end of the match.
This victory brought Switzerland to the top of the 2026 World Cup Group B standings with four points from two matches. Meanwhile, Bosnia is stuck at the bottom of the standings with one point.
Switzerland dominated from the start of the match and immediately threatened through Dan Ndoye in the 10th minute. However, the striker's shot was still narrowly wide on the left side of the Bosnia goal.
Ndoye again got a chance 10 minutes later, this time his shot towards the middle of the goal was still able to be secured by goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj.
Bosnia was only able to respond towards the end of the first half. In the 38th minute, Amar Dedic fired a shot that could still be stopped easily by Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. The score remained 0-0 until halftime.
Entering the second half, Switzerland continued to increase the pressure. Breel Embolo almost opened the lead in the 63rd minute, but his opportunity was still able to be thwarted by Vasilj.
The deadlock finally broke in the 74th minute. A cross from the left side was successfully greeted by Johan Manzambi who easily defeated Vasilj and brought Switzerland ahead 1-0.
The disaster for Bosnia came shortly after Tarik Muharemovic received a red card for a foul from behind against Embolo, forcing his team to play with 10 men.
The advantage in the number of players was well utilized by Switzerland. Ruben Vargas doubled the lead in the 84th minute with a horizontal kick after receiving a pass from Embolo.
Manzambi again recorded his name on the scoreboard in the 90th minute after completing Vargas's pull pass and bringing Switzerland away to 3-0.
Bosnia briefly reduced the deficit at halftime through a hard shot from Ermin Mahmic from outside the penalty area in the 90th minute +3. However, Switzerland immediately responded after receiving a penalty four minutes later.
Granit Xhaka who advanced as an executor successfully completed his task and ensured Switzerland's 4-1 victory.
