Polda Metro Gives 1 Year to Pay Taxes Without Original KTP Old Owner

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya has given a one-year exemption for people who want to pay motor vehicle tax on behalf of others or have not returned to their name without having to attach the original KTP of the owner.

Dirlantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Komarudin said this policy was taken to respond to public unrest, as well as synchronizing vehicle ownership data with an electronic-based law enforcement system.

"People whose vehicles are still in the name of others, for this year will still be given (tax payment permission) without completing the original owner's KTP," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 3.

Even though they are given flexibility, Komarudin said that taxpayers will be asked to fill out a statement form.

The form states that the commitment of the new owner is to process the Motor Vehicle Re-Registration Fee (BBNKB) in the following year.

"If in the one-year deadline the name change process is not carried out, officers will block the vehicle's vehicle registration," he said.

He added that this step was taken based on the results of analysis and evaluation (anev) of law enforcement in the field.

Until now, many electronic traffic fine letters or Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) have been ignored and not targeted.

"Many of the vehicles recorded by ETLE are still neglected because the confirmation letter is still sent to the old owner. As a result, the original violators tend to be stupid because they think the vehicle is not administratively in their name," he explained.

Through this policy, the police hope that the Electronic Registration and Identification (ERI) system with the concept of a single identity can run more effectively.

Thus, the law enforcement process on the highway can be more targeted to real vehicle users.

In conjunction with this policy, the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Police also reminded the public to take advantage of the momentum of the tax amnesty program and BBNKB incentives which lasted for three months, starting from June 1 to August 31.

"Let's create a kamseltibcarlantas traffic situation that is safe, more orderly, and more comfortable in the midst of Jakarta's congestion. Let's take advantage of this bleaching momentum," he said.
