Deputy Governor Of DKI: Registration For Public Schools Has Exceeded The Capacity
JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that prospective students who registered for public schools in Jakarta had exceeded the existing capacity.
He said this when conducting a review at the Education Office's new student admissions post (PPDB) at SMKN 27 Central Jakarta.
Since the online PPDB was opened on Monday, June 7 to Wednesday, June 9 at 09.00 WIB, there have been around 53 thousand prospective students enrolled in elementary school, 85 thousand registered for junior high school, and 98 thousand registered for high school/vocational school.
"The total number of applicants has reached 238,554. Meanwhile, the capacity for all levels of public schools is only 212,212. So, it has exceeded the existing capacity," said Riza on Wednesday, June 9.
Riza said he was grateful because this shows that many prospective students are enthusiastic about enrolling in public schools in the capital city.
But, he said, the DKI Provincial Government does not want to label a handful of schools as superior. Therefore, Riza views that all students can get the same education rights in all schools.
"With the pattern of the past 2 years, we hope that all schools in Jakarta will become excellent schools. So, it doesn't matter for students to go to school anywhere. Disdik will provide the best quality education for our students," he said.
Furthermore, Riza admitted that he had received a number of complaints about the PPDB experiencing system disturbances yesterday. The reason is that many people are accessing it at the same time.
Thus, this made it difficult for residents to register PPDB accounts for prospective students. However, Riza guarantees that currently PPDB registration will no longer be disturbed.
"Hopefully, what was complained about yesterday, there is no significant problem, it will only take a moment and can be resolved properly. So, we hope that the public can take advantage of the remaining time to register immediately," he concluded.
