TNI AL Claims It Can Harvest 2-4 Tons of Soybeans in Several Areas

JAKARTA - The Head of the TNI AL Information Service (Kadispenal) First Admiral TNI Tunggul said his party had managed to harvest soybeans of two to four tons in several areas.

The soybean harvest is the result of the processing of idle land carried out by the Indonesian Navy in the context of the food security program.

"As an example, in some TNI AL lands such as Lampung, which harvested in October 2025 with an area of 30 hectares, it is able to produce 4 tons of soybean per hectare," said Tunggul as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 23.

"While last week in Nganjuk, East Java, with an area of 400 hectares, the estimated harvest is 1.5 to 2 tons per hectare," said Tunggul.

According to Tunggul, the success of the harvest carried out by his personnel is part of the effort to carry out the Ministry of Defense's order which ordered the TNI AL to focus on planting soybeans.

The harvest results, continued Tunggul, are then used by the community for personal needs or resold.

Until now, Tunggul has ensured that the activity of planting soybeans by TNI AL soldiers is still carried out in several areas.

Thus, the soybeans produced from the land managed by the Indonesian Navy can strengthen regional food security while making the community's economy turn around.

Previously, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said that his party gave the task to the TNI AD and TNI AL in mobilizing the food security program.

"We have divided the tasks, for the Army, the task is agriculture, corn, and rice, in addition to cash crops. The Navy is soybeans," said Sjafrie in a public hearing (RDP) with Commission I of the DPR, Tuesday (19/5).

According to Sjafrie, the TNI AL was given the task of planting soybeans because until now Indonesia relies on imported soybean products as much as two tons to cover national needs.

In fact, he received information that soybeans sent from abroad to Indonesia are the basic ingredients for livestock feed.

"So, you can imagine, we import soybeans as livestock feed for people outside. Now, the Navy with two harvests, he already has the quality of soybean seeds, which is no longer the term livestock feed," he said in the meeting.
