Xpeng GX Bags Nearly 25,000 Orders in 12 Hours, What's the Advantage?
JAKARTA - Chinese electric car manufacturer XPeng, announced impressive sales figures for its latest model, the Xpeng GX. The new SUV managed to bag 24,863 firm orders in just 12 hours since it was officially launched into the market.
This model comes in eight variants with prices ranging from 279,800 yuan (about Rp726 million) to 359,800 yuan (Rp934 million). Xpeng Chairman, He Xiaopeng, said that the highest Ultra variant was the main choice of consumers.
Quoted from Carnewschina, Thursday, May 21, he revealed that more than 80 percent of the total bookings came from the flagship version. In terms of design, the Xpeng GX carries a modern look with full-length model headlights on the fascia.
The lower bumper section is made aggressive and combined with dynamic air ducts to strengthen the futuristic impression. On the side, this SUV has a flowing body line, a floating roof model roof, hidden door handles, and multi-spoke rims.
Meanwhile, the back adopts a design in line with the full-width taillights that stretch. For its dimensions, the Xpeng GX has a length of 5,265 mm, a width of 1,999 mm, a height of 1,800 mm, and a wheelbase of 3,115 mm which provides more spacious cabin space.
Entering the interior, this car is equipped with a modern cockpit with a "Cosmic Pilot" steer-by-wire steering wheel. The front seat has been equipped with smart greeting features and can be electrically extended up to 135 mm. In the middle of the dashboard is a 17.3-inch ultra-thin 3K screen.
The center console area combines decorative and functional elements. Inside it is a smart wireless charging pad that can be raised automatically as well as a hidden cup holder.
The premium feel is further enhanced by the use of Star Velvet transparent leather material on the door panel combined with ambient light "Star Ribbon". The entertainment system relies on Lingjing AI Sound Max with 33 speakers.
Passengers in the second row are also pampered with leather perforated zero-gravity model independent seats. In terms of performance, the Xpeng GX is available in two technology options, namely Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV).
The EREV version is equipped with a 1.5T engine combined with a dual motor system. The front motor produces 160 kW or 215 hp, while the rear motor reaches 210 kW or 282 hp. This variant uses a 63.3 kWh battery with a pure electric range of up to 430 km based on the CLTC standard and a total combined mileage of 1,585 km.
Meanwhile, the BEV version comes in two configurations. For the dual motor AWD variant, the power generated reaches 160 kW and 270 kW with the support of a 110 kWh battery that can travel up to 750 km CLTC.
The RWD version of the single-motor motor produces a maximum power of 270 kW or 362 hp. This variant uses a 91.9 kWh battery with a cruising range of up to 665 km based on CLTC testing.
