People Close to Not Immune: Prabowo Challenged BPKP Inspection
NGANJUK - President Prabowo Subianto admitted that he was disappointed because there were still many officials who abused their power. He even revealed that a number of people close to him were also investigated regarding alleged irregularities.
This was conveyed by Prabowo when he inaugurated the Marsinah Museum in Nganjuk, East Java, Saturday, May 16, 2026.
"I shake my head. Every day I get reports from officials who are corrupt," said Prabowo.
He admitted that he was sad because some of the officials who were suspected of having problems were people he had raised and trusted.
"The person I picked up, I built, I gave honor, so when I took office, I deviated, I took the people's money," he said.
Prabowo then recounted his meeting with the Head of BPKP. According to the President, the Head of BPKP was hesitant to continue the examination because several parties reported to be close to him.
"Sir, this is close to the President. Can the investigation continue?" said Prabowo, imitating the question.
He admitted that he immediately ordered the examination to continue.
"Continue the investigation. There is no Prabowo person. If there is an indication, continue to investigate," he said.
Prabowo said that state positions were a trust. Therefore, officials should be more careful when they got power.
He also emphasized that his party's cadres themselves should not be immune from the law. "I want my own party, Gerindra, to check how many have been processed. It must set an example," said Prabowo.
In his speech, Prabowo asked officials who had received money illegally to immediately return it. If they refused, the legal process must proceed.
"Later the ministers will be hurt. Ask them to return. If they don't want to, it's a matter between the Attorney General's Office," he said.
Prabowo emphasized that officials who do not side with the people are not worthy of holding power, even though they often shout about nationalism and the Indonesian state.
