Rupiah is Predicted to Weaken, Middle East Tensions Trigger Pressure

JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate in Monday, April 13, 2026 trading is expected to weaken against the US dollar.

To note, quoting Bloomberg, on Friday, April 10, the spot rupiah exchange rate closed down 0.08 percent to Rp17,104 per US dollar.

Meanwhile, the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) exchange rate of the Bank Indonesia (BI) closed down 0.17 percent to the price level of Rp17,112 per US dollar.

Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong, predicts the rupiah will weaken against the US dollar amid rising geopolitical uncertainty in the Middle East.

He added that this condition was triggered by US President Donald Trump's threat to close the Strait of Hormuz after negotiations with Iran failed.

"The rupiah is expected to weaken against the US dollar amid increasing uncertainty surrounding geopolitics in the region following Trump's threat to close the Strait of Hormuz after failed negotiations with Iran," he told VOI, Monday, April 13.

Lukman estimates that the movement of the rupiah on Monday, April 13, 2026 will be in the range of Rp17,050-Rp17,200 per US dollar.
