Rupiah is Predicted to Strengthen in the Middle of the Weakening of the US Dollar
JAKARTA - The rupiah exchange rate on Friday, April 10, 2026 is expected to move to strengthen limited against the US dollar.
To note, quoting Bloomberg, on Thursday, April 9, the spot rupiah exchange rate closed down 0.46 percent to Rp17,090 per US dollar.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) exchange rate of the Bank Indonesia (BI) closed down 0.43 percent to the price level of Rp17,082 per US dollar.
Doo Financial Futures analyst Lukman Leong, predicts that the rupiah exchange rate will strengthen against the US dollar.
He added that this strengthening was driven by the weakening of the US dollar due to increased hopes for peace in the Middle East, along with Israel's efforts to conduct peace talks with Lebanon.
"The rupiah is expected to strengthen against the US dollar which is weakening by the hope for peace in the timteng following Israel's efforts to hold peace talks with Lebanon," he told VOI, Friday, April 10.
In addition, he added that the US dollar was also pressured by the release of PCE data as well as a revision of the US GDP that was weaker than expected.
However, Lukman said that the strengthening of the rupiah was expected to be limited because the ceasefire was still considered fragile.
"Previously, the US dollar was also pressured by PCE data and a revision of the US GDP that was weaker than expected. However, the strengthening will be limited, a ceasefire is still seen as fragile," he said.
Lukman estimates that the movement of the rupiah on Friday, April 10, 2026 will be in the range of Rp17,000-Rp17,100 per US dollar.
