Russian Military Plane Crashes in Crimea, 29 Dead

JAKARTA - Six crew and 23 passengers of an An-26 plane that lost contact over Crimea are reported dead.

A day earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry said contact with the military transport plane was lost while on a routine flight over the Crimean Peninsula.

"The search and rescue team has found the location of the An-26 crash. According to reports from the location, six crew members and 23 passengers on board have died," the ministry said in a statement quoted by ANTARA from Sputnk, Wednesday, April 1.

The accident was allegedly due to technical failure. A source said the plane crashed into a cliff.
