Gacor! Government Targets Complete BLBI Cases In 3 Years

JAKARTA - The government through the Ministry of Finance took quick steps in resolving the case of Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance (BLBI) which was said to have cost the state Rp110.45 trillion.

This was realized by the formation of a special team through Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 6 of 2021 concerning the Task Force for Handling State Collection Rights for BLBI Funds.

"So this is the state's right to collect from the banking crisis that occurred in the 1997 to 1998 period," said Finance Minister (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani during a virtual press conference in Jakarta, Friday, June 4.

The Minister of Finance added that in carrying out its duties the BLBI Task Force was given the authority to carry out other necessary legal remedies by cooperating with law enforcement officers, such as the Police and the Attorney General's Office.

"We encourage the Task Force team to be able to take advantage of all existing instruments in this country. We hope that the three-year term can be carried out with close cooperation," he said.

To note, the government established the BLBI Task Force in three Working Groups (Pokja). First, the Data and Evidence Working Group in charge of collecting, verifying and classifying, as well as other tasks in the context of providing data and documents related to debtors/obligors.

Two, the Pokja Tracking tasked with tracking and tracing debtor/obligor data, guarantees, other assets, and coordinating and cooperating with other parties at home and abroad.

"This working group consists of representatives from the State Intelligence Agency, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, and the Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis," continued the Minister of Finance.

Third, the Collecting and Litigation Working Group tasked with carrying out collection efforts, legal actions/legal remedies required in the return and recovery of BLBI funds receivables both domestically and abroad.

On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said that the government had all the data on the BLBI funders who were currently being hunted.

“No one can hide because here the list is there. So we know and you (obligors and debtors) know. Let's be open and cooperative with each other. We work for the state and you must also work for the state,” said Mahfud.
