PDIP: In accordance with the Intelligence Law, the DPR has the right to call the government to investigate the case of spraying hard water

JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the PDIP Faction, TB Hasanuddin, emphasized that the case of pouring hard water on the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, must be handled transparently, professionally, and accountable, given the alleged involvement of intelligence personnel. According to him, in accordance with the Intelligence Law, the DPR has the right to summon the government to investigate the case.

Meanwhile, the TNI Military Police Center (Puspom) has stated that there are four members of the Strategic Intelligence Agency Headquarters (Denma BAIS) who are suspected of being involved in the case of watering Andrie Yunus.

"PDIP: In accordance with the Intelligence Law, the DPR has the right to call the government to investigate the case of spraying hard water," said TB Hasanuddin, in a statement received Wednesday, March 25.

The member of the defense commission explained that according to Article 43 of Law Number 17 of 2011 concerning State Intelligence, there is a clear oversight mechanism for the implementation of intelligence, both internally and externally.

He said that internal supervision was carried out by the leadership of each intelligence agency, while external supervision was carried out by a commission in the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia. In this case, Commission I of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia which specifically handles the intelligence sector.

In carrying out this oversight function, continued TB Hasanuddin, Commission I of the DPR RI has formed a permanent oversight team consisting of representatives of factions and commission leaders. This team was approved and sworn in at the DPR RI Plenary Meeting and has the obligation to maintain intelligence secrecy in accordance with legal provisions.

"On this basis, Commission I of the DPR RI has the authority to summon related parties, including the government and the TNI institutions, to ask for explanations and encourage a thorough investigation of this case," he said.

The retired Major General of the TNI also emphasized the importance of strict law enforcement and no discrimination against anyone who is proven to be involved, in order to maintain the integrity of institutions and ensure justice for victims.

"The state must be present to provide legal certainty. Whoever the perpetrator is, they must be processed according to the applicable law," said TB Hasanuddin.
