Pramono Clarifies the Call "Traveling to Jakarta": Not Inviting People to Come Live

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung clarified his statement regarding the invitation to "return to Jakarta" during the Lebaran holiday period which he often launched in recent times.

According to Pramono, the invitation is often misinterpreted as if the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government invited people from the region to come and settle in the capital during Lebaran.

In fact, what is meant is to give the opportunity for the public to enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere in Jakarta when most of its citizens return to their hometowns.

"That doesn't mean expecting people in the villages to then come to Jakarta everywhere to go home, because they are definitely not in Jakarta," said Pramono on Pari Island, Thousand Islands, Friday, March 13.

Pramono explained that during the Lebaran period, the number of residents who leave Jakarta is usually quite large so that the city's activities become quieter than usual days.

This situation is considered to be used by the community to enjoy various city facilities with a more peaceful atmosphere.

"This time Jakarta provides space for anyone to be able to enjoy Jakarta when Jakarta is quiet. Because from the data available, the number of travelers is approximately the same as last year," he said.

To support this, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared a number of programs, including discounts or discounts at various tourist destinations.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government will also provide free public transportation services for two consecutive days during the Lebaran holiday period.

"So, including what I have decided is for transportation, for two consecutive days we will free all public transportation or services that use transportation in Jakarta," explained Pramono.

On the other hand, Pramono also asked residents who would return home to report their departure plans to local neighborhood managers. According to him, reporting to RT and RW is necessary so that the house that is left behind can be monitored while the owner goes home.

"So I have asked the DKI Jakarta government to the level of RW, RT, to carry out socialization for all residents who will return home to report. So that someone is responsible if this is left at home," said Pramono.

He alluded to previous experiences when fires and floods occurred while some residents were going home. Therefore, reporting to the neighborhood manager is considered important as an anticipatory step.

"But there are also data that show that the possibility of sea level rise will increase. Well, for that we ask all residents who will return home to report to the local RT RW," he said.
