Iran Says US, Israeli Ships and Allies in Strait of Hormuz Are Valid Targets
JAKARTA - The Iranian military on Wednesday said that ships belonging to the United States, Israel, or their allies that pass through the strategic Strait of Hormuz would be targeted.
"Any ship carrying oil or the ship itself belongs to the United States, the Zionist regime, or their hostile allies will be considered a legitimate target," the central military operations command, Khatam al-Anbiya, said in a statement broadcast by state television, reported Al Arabiya from AFP (11/3).
The statement reiterated that Iran's armed forces "will not allow a single liter of oil to pass" through the strait, adding that "the closure of this strait is the result of conditions imposed by the US and the Zionist regime," referring to Israel.
It is known that the Middle East region is heating up along with the Israeli and US attacks on Iran on February 28, killing civilians and high-ranking Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran retaliated by carrying out attacks on Israeli territory and targeting facilities related to US military activity in the Middle East.
