1.5 hectares of land in the TNI AL Housing of North Kalimantan Fire, Fire Extinguished After 2 Damkar Cars

JAKARTA - A fire on a 1.5-hectare vacant lot occurred at the TNI AL Bumi Moro Housing, Tanjung Uban Timur Village, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri), Wednesday afternoon, March 11.

Head of the Tanjung Uban Fire Department Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD Damkar) Panyodi said officers were sent to the location after receiving a report of a fire from a resident named Kusnali (55).

"The fire was just extinguished at around 16.00 WIB," he said when contacted in Bintan, Wednesday evening, quoted by Antara.

He admitted that he did not know the owner of the vacant land that was devoured by the fire. Likewise with the trigger of the fire.

His party deployed two fire trucks with a water tank capacity of 3,000 tons to put out the "red hero".

"There were no casualties or material losses in this incident," he said.

Panyodi appealed to the public not to burn land or piles of garbage indiscriminately in the midst of hot weather accompanied by wind, because it risks triggering a larger fire and even spreading to the surrounding environment to residential areas.

He reminded that the legal consequences for citizens who deliberately burn forests and land are imprisonment for 10 years and a fine of Rp. 10 billion, as stipulated in Law Number 32 of 2009 Article 108 concerning the Protection and Management of the Environment.

"For people who need fire assistance, please contact the Damkar Tanjung Uban telephone number 07714651295 or WhatsApp 083140662233," said Panyodi.
