Chairman of the OSIS of Jabodetabek Demonstrates the Ability to Debate at RLS 2026

BOGOR - The intellectual and competitive atmosphere colors the Debate Competition between the OSIS Chairmen of Jabodetabek which was held in the context of the 2026 Ramadan Leadership Summit (RLS) at the Ibn Khaldun University (UIKA) Bogor.

The activity was attended by 304 OSIS and ROHIS chairmen from 162 SMA, SMK, and MA level schools in the Jabodetabek area. They attended a student leadership training forum which is the annual agenda of the campus every month of Ramadan.

Debate competition is one of the main agendas in RLS 2026. This activity is designed to train the ability to think critically, logic of argumentation, and communication skills of young leaders in the school environment.

The debate uses the Asian Parliamentary method, where each team consists of three participants divided into pro and con positions against motions determined by drawing lots. Various strategic issues are discussed in the debate, ranging from national leadership, democracy, to the role of the younger generation in nation-building.

The participants were judged by a jury based on a number of aspects, including the quality of arguments, analytical and rebuttal skills, public speaking skills, teamwork, and ethics in debating with a maximum total score of 100 points.

After going through the qualifying round to the final which took place tightly, the jury board appointed the team from Group 1 as the first champion with a score of 95 from the counter team. The team consists of Arya Maulana from MAN 21 Jakarta, M. Haikal Rizqi from Daarul Uluum Bantar Kemang Bogor, and Muhammad Rasya Oka Arriza from SMA 2 Perguruan Cikini Jakarta.

The second place was won by Group 9 from the counter team with a score of 92 consisting of Gendis Okniani from SMAN 1 Rumpin Bogor, Fauzan Asytar Luda Putra from SMAN 1 Depok, and Muhammad Raja from SMK Cakrawala.

Meanwhile, the third place was won by Group 7 from the pro team with a score of 89 consisting of Radis Solihatul from SMK Media Technology Bogor, Rifan Qolbani from SMAN 1 Depok, and Asep Saepudin from SMK YAPAN 1 Ciampea.

The committee also determined three participants as the best speakers during the debate, namely Alwin Septian Satya Negara from MA Darul Fityan, Fauzan Asytar Luda Putra from SMAN 1 Depok, and Asep Saepudin from SMK YAPAN 1 Ciampea.

The person in charge of the activity, Nurdin Al-Azies, said the quality of the arguments shown by the participants showed the great potential of the younger generation in future leadership.

"Seeing the way they organize their arguments and respond to the views of their opponents, I am increasingly convinced that there are still many extraordinary Generation Z. Their reasoning is strong, their logic is sharp, and their insight is also very good," he said.

According to him, the participants not only dared to convey ideas, but were also able to build arguments systematically and rationally, and still uphold ethics in discussing.

"If they continue to be trained and given the right learning space, I am optimistic that they have the qualifications to become intelligent, critical, and ethical leaders of the future," said Nurdin.

The Ramadan Leadership Summit is a routine agenda of the Bogor Ibn Khaldun University which is held every month of Ramadan as a form of the campus' commitment in fostering a network of student leadership.

Through this activity, UIKA Bogor hopes that the OSIS and ROHIS chairmen will not only be the driving force of the organization at school, but also grow into young leaders who are able to bring positive change to society and the nation.
