Iran: Russia-China Can Help De-escalate Middle East Conflict

JAKARTA - Russia and China can help defuse the conflict involving Iran as well as play a role in strengthening the diplomatic process.

"The countries you mentioned, namely Russia, China, and many other international partners, can play an effective role in strengthening the diplomatic process, easing tensions, and supporting the principles of international law," Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani told RIA Novosti, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 9.

He said Iran hopes the international community and friendly countries take a responsible approach to violations of international law, attacks on civilians, and aggression against Iran.

"Humanitarian cooperation and international support in the current situation can help alleviate the difficulties faced by the civilian population," said Mohajerani.

On February 28, the United States (US) and Israel launched an attack on a number of targets in Iran, including in Tehran, which caused damage and civilian casualties.

Iran then retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East as a form of self-defense.
