Visit the Port Development and Production Facility Project in Tuban, Vice President Gibran Appreciates SIG's Steps to Increase Exports and Industrial Competitiveness
JAKARTA - Bright weather accompanied the steps of the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming, along the development project of the pier and production facilities of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) in Tuban Regency, East Java, on Friday, March 6, 2026.
During the visit, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming was also accompanied by the Governor of East Java Province, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Tuban Regent, Aditya Halindra Faridzky, and SIG President Director, Indrieffouny Indra along with the Company's management.
The project, managed by SIG's subsidiary PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk, will be a large-capacity cement export facility that adopts the latest modern technology to support efficient and sustainable export operations.
Vice President Gibran Rakabuming expressed his appreciation for the development of the project, which has now reached 99 percent, and hopes that the Company will continue to maintain and even improve environmental management standards and compliance.
"Hopefully it will soon be operational and support the improvement of national capabilities in the global arena and the agenda for sustainable development, not only in Indonesia, but also abroad," said Gibran Rakabuming.
During the working visit, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming reviewed the features of the pier which is projected to be able to send 500 thousand to 1 million tons of cement to the international market. The development of the pier and production facilities project is part of a strategic cooperation between SIG through its subsidiary, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk, and Taiheiyo Cement Corporation which has been established since 2021.
With an investment value of IDR 1.4 trillion, this project includes a number of developments in port facilities and factories. One of them is the increase in the capacity of the Special Terminal from 15,000 Deadweight Tons (DWT) to 50,000 DWT.
This capacity addition is carried out by building a new jetty trestle and jetty platform which is connected to the existing jetty. Meanwhile, to support production, this project also includes the construction of facilities such as a blending silo system with a capacity of 8,000 tons, a clinker silo system with a capacity of 15,000 tons, and 2 cement silo systems with a capacity of 18,000 tons each.
In addition, this project also involves the installation of transport facilities in the form of a 4.1 km tube conveyor, a tripper conveyor, and a ship loader with a capacity of 1,000 tons per hour (tph) which serves to send bulk cement from the factory to the ship that is docked at the pier.
SIG President Director, Indrieffouny Indra, said that this project is expected to be completed soon to be ready to operate optimally by mid-2026. This synergy project with Hutama Karya, is projected to be able to send 450 thousand tons of cement this year, from a fulfillment capacity of up to 1 million tons of cement per year.
"This project will be an important milestone not only in strengthening distribution capacity, but also contributing to the competitiveness of the export market and strengthening the Company's global distribution network in the midst of increasingly competitive domestic market challenges, as well as the overcapacity conditions faced by the domestic cement industry. Hopefully this cooperation with Taiheiyo will bring optimal results and contribute to the growth of the performance of both groups. And most importantly, expanding the services of the children of the nation in the world arena," said Indrieffouny Indra.
