Nyalip, Motorcyclist Dies After Hitting Separator and Transjakarta Bus in Gunung Sahari
JAKARTA - An accident involving a Transjakarta bus and a motorcycle occurred on Jalan Gunung Sahari on Wednesday, March 4 at around 23.31 WIB. Based on surveillance camera (CCTV) footage from inside the Transjakarta bus, the chronology of the accident began when a motorcycle sped at high speed.
The motorcycle carried by two men was traveling from Pademangan to Senen Market.
"PT Transjakarta expresses its deepest condolences for the accident involving the DMR 240205 bus operator and a motorcycle in the direction of Kampung Melayu," said Head of Public Relations and CSR Department of Transakarta, Ayu Wardhani, in a statement, Thursday, March 5.
The motorcyclist was determined to maneuver to overtake other vehicles so that he could break into the Transjakarta bus lane (busway). As a result of driving too fast in a narrow overtaking space, the motorcycle lost control and hit the separator or concrete road divider.
"The motorcycle hit the separator (MCB), fell into the lane, and made contact with the bus which was traveling at a speed of 40km/hour," he said.
After hitting the separator, the two riders were bounced and fell right on the busway lane. At the same time, a Transjakarta bus was passing on its track, so the collision was unavoidable.
In the initial handling, the victim died was taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). Meanwhile, another victim who was injured was rushed to the Hermina Podomoro Hospital.
"Transjakarta has handed over CCTV footage and has been cooperative, and has handed over the investigation entirely to the police," said Ayu.
Currently, the bus fleet has been secured at the Pancoran Traffic Accident Unit. The handling of the accident case is also being handled by the Directorate of Traffic of the Metro Jaya Police.
"Transjakarta appeals to all road users to always be careful and not enter the bus lane for the sake of safety," added Ayu.
