Antony chases Yamal and Vinicius, proof of finding the way after struggling at Manchester United

JAKARTA - After finding a way out of a difficult time at Manchester United last summer, Antony's career resurgence in Spain shows no signs of slowing down.

The Brazilian scored his seventh goal of the season - plus five assists - in the form of a stunning overhead kick in a 2-2 draw when Real Betis played Sevilla on Monday, March 2, 2026 WIB.

He opened the scoring with a superb overhead kick from inside the box to give Real Betis the lead and send the Estadio de La Cartuja into a roar.

However, the joy did not last long as Real Betis then squandered a two-goal lead when goals from former Arsenal and Barcelona player Alexis Sanchez and Isaac Romero secured a point for Sevilla.

The incident that befell Antony did not end there. The 26-year-old was seen confronting Real Betis supporters who were disappointed that their team lost a two-goal lead.

He had to be restrained by security staff surrounding him during the incident after the final whistle blew as Real Betis fans vented their frustration on him.

The result puts Real Betis in fifth place in the LaLiga standings, eight points behind Villareal in fourth place.

Apart from that, Antony's goal means he is now behind Lamine Yamal (13 goals and 9 assists) and Vinicius Junior (9 goals and 5 assists) in the league this season and in a good position ahead of the end of the season.

He also leads the list of goal contributions at Real Betis with 20 goals this season in all competitions (11 goals and 9 assists), a far cry from his three years of poor form at Old Trafford.
