Facing Eid Homecoming, the Government Maximizes National Transportation Control

JAKARTA - The government is maximizing the control of national transportation in the face of the homecoming and return flow of Eid al-Fitr 2026 through strengthening cross-sectoral coordination.

This effort was emphasized in the Cross-Sector Coordination Meeting held by the Indonesian National Police and attended by relevant ministries and agencies at the STIK Lemdiklat Polri, Monday, March 2.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi emphasized that this cross-sector forum is the key to aligning perceptions and strengthening mutual readiness to face the Eid Transportation which is considered complex and high-risk.

"We are holding this cross-sector meeting to align perceptions and strengthen our readiness to face the complex and high-risk Eid Transportation so that it can run smoothly," Dudy said in an official statement, Monday, March 2.

Dudy said that the success of the Lebaran Transportation was determined by the solidity of inter-agency cooperation from the planning stage to control in the field. In this case, the Ministry of Transportation will focus on regulating transportation operations, providing capacity for facilities and infrastructure, and supervising safety in all modes.

Furthermore, Dudy also asked for the support of the National Police in the aspects of security and traffic management. The role of the police includes security, traffic regulation and engineering, to law enforcement to maintain order and safety during the homecoming period.

"It is necessary to anticipate the density at transport nodes that are potentially very dense, especially terminals, stations, ports, airports, and main road access. The necessary anticipatory steps include traffic management for vehicles entering and exiting, as well as ensuring the readiness of public transportation services or feeders," said Dudy.

Dudy said that the synergy between the Ministry of Transportation and the National Police was realized through coordination of traffic control, operational supervision, and security at points prone to congestion and accidents. This collaboration is expected to make transportation policies run effectively with the support of responsive field arrangements.

In addition, the Ministry of Transportation is implementing a digital-based operation plan in monitoring the Lebaran Transportation. Monitoring is carried out through reporting nodes and transportation networks, surveillance of movement of facilities, live streaming drones, accident monitoring, community complaint services, to information on the distribution of supporting facilities that are integrated between institutions.

According to Dudy, this system is strengthened with weather data and early warnings from BMKG, as well as thousands of surveillance cameras.

"In total, there are 7,159 CCTV monitoring points that we monitor in cooperation with SOEs and private companies. This digitization allows for quick and accurate decision-making in controlling the movement of national transportation," said Dudy.
