Bripka MS Allegedly Abused 2 Students, National Police Chief: We Handle It Transparently

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized that the National Police would handle the case of Brimob member Bripka MS, who allegedly abused two students in Southeast Maluku, one of whom died.

"I think things like that we are transparent," said Sigit in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday, February 22.

According to Sigit, the Bhayangkara Corps has currently conducted an investigation and investigation into the case.

Previously, Bripka MS was suspected of hitting the head of a student at the MTsN Maluku Tenggara with the initials AT (14) until he was covered in blood and died. In addition, the perpetrator who served in the Mako Brimob Pelopor C was also suspected of abusing NK (15), AT's older brother, until he suffered a broken bone.

Head of Public Relations of the National Police, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, emphasized that the National Police would be firm in handling the case, both in terms of law enforcement and code of ethics.

"The National Police is firmly committed to the law enforcement process and the code of ethics for individuals involved in a transparent and accountable manner," Johnny said in a statement, Saturday.

He said, the National Police invited the victims' families and the public to jointly escort the legal process so that it runs according to the applicable principles.

According to him, transparency and accountability are the keys to maintaining public confidence in the police institution.

In addition, the National Police apologized for the actions of members who were considered not in line with the values of Tribrata and Catur Prasetya, and had the potential to hurt public confidence.

Johnny also expressed his deep condolences for the victims who died in the incident and expressed empathy to the families left behind. The police, he said, prayed that the victims' families would be given fortitude and strength in facing the disaster.
