Polda Metro Jaya Disrupt the Circulation of 18 Kg of Marijuana in Jakbar

JAKARTA - The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police thwarted the circulation of marijuana drugs with a total gross weight of 18.829 kilograms (kg) in the West Jakarta area.

"The disclosure of this case began with information from the public regarding drug trafficking activities in the Duri Kepa area, Kebon Jeruk," said Kompol Tri, Head of Sub-Unit II of the Narcotics Division of the Metro Jaya Police, in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

Following up on the report, he continued, Unit II Subdit II Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya, which was headed by Kanit 2 Subdit 2 Kompol Tri, together with the team, immediately conducted an investigation at the location on Thursday (19/2).

"At around 19.30 WIB, officers secured a man with the initials AG (39) in the parking area of Alfamart, Jalan Kebon Raya II, Duri Kepa, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta," said Tri.

From the suspect's hands, the police found one large package containing 10 packs of marijuana weighing approximately 10 kilograms which had been neatly packaged to be ready for distribution.

"Initial interrogation revealed that the suspect still kept marijuana in another location. Furthermore, the team developed a vacant house on Jalan Tanjung Duren Utara," he said.

Then at around 20.50 WIB, Unit II Subdit II Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya found additional evidence in the form of one sack containing eight packages of marijuana weighing approximately eight kilograms, one cardboard box containing marijuana, and a number of supporting tools such as scissors, cutters, duct tape, and plastic packaging.

"So in total, the marijuana seized by the suspect weighed 18 kilograms," said Tri.

Currently, the suspect and all the evidence were taken to the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police for further examination.
