Baznas RI Forms Humanitarian Assistance Cooperation with the Sudanese Ambassador
JAKARTA - The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) RI strengthened the synergy of humanitarian assistance during the honor visit of the Ambassador of Sudan to Indonesia Yassir Mohamed Ali Mohamed at the Baznas Headquarters in Jakarta, Friday (20/2).
The meeting highlighted the current conditions in Sudan as well as the strategic collaboration plan between Baznas and other stakeholders for humanitarian assistance in Sudan.
"We at Baznas are very concerned about the humanitarian crisis that continues to hit our brothers and sisters in Sudan. As a nation that upholds the values of humanity, Baznas is committed to not letting them fight alone in the midst of this still non-conducive conflict," said Chairman of Baznas RI Noor Achmad through a statement in Jakarta, Saturday.
Noor assessed that assistance in the Muslim-majority country was considered very important following in-depth reports on the health crisis and emergency situation still plaguing Sudan.
He emphasized Baznas' readiness to continue to pioneer the collection of assistance for the Sudanese people who have been going on for a long time.
Through the meeting, Noor assessed that the intensity of the humanitarian campaign would be further increased to mobilize greater public support and have a wide impact.
"Especially to support the health sector with the provision of medical facilities and medicines which are considered very urgent. We want to ensure that the trust of the Indonesian people is channeled properly and become a bright spot for Sudan's recovery in the future," said Noor Achmad.
Meanwhile, the Sudanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Yassir Mohamed Ali Mohamed, conveyed his deep appreciation to Indonesia as a friendly country that showed solidarity and real commitment in times of crisis.
He conveyed great hope that the humanitarian synergy with Baznas in the future could be focused on the recovery of the health sector. Given the many medical facilities affected by the conflict, assistance in the form of rebuilding hospitals and procuring medical equipment is a top priority.
"This is expected to reduce the fatality rate due to the crisis that has claimed more than 200,000 lives, especially among women and children," said Ambassador Yassir Mohamed.
