Demi Lovato Cancels Several Concerts for the "It's Not That Deep" Tour
JAKARTA - The shocking news came from Demi Lovato, who officially announced the cancellation of five concert schedules in her upcoming tour series, It's Not That Deep Tour.
Through a post on Instagram Story, Lovato revealed that the very busy tour preparations made him realize the limitations of the energy he had.
The 33-year-old singer admitted that he did not want to force himself, which could risk harming the quality of his performance on stage.
"My Lovatics, I'm so excited to get back on stage this year and visit you in as many cities as possible. However, when I started preparing for the tour, I realized that I had exceeded the limits of what is possible," wrote Lovato, quoting his statement, Wednesday, February 12.
He emphasized that the decision was purely made on medical and fitness considerations. Lovato felt the need to have a longer break to rest and practice.
"In order to protect my health, and ensure I can give my best at every show, I need to provide myself with more time to rest and train," Lovato said.
"In the end, I had to adjust my schedule with more rest time that allowed me to go through this whole tour series," he added.
The five cities that are confirmed to be canceled are Nashville, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Denver, and Charlotte.
In addition to the cancellation, Lovato also shifted the concert schedule in Orlando, to April 13, which is now appointed as the opening show of the tour.
Although he did not detail specific health problems, Lovato is known to be vocal about his struggles with eating disorders, mental health, and addiction in the past.
In mid-2024, he shared his bitter experience in a health forum in New York. "I have been hospitalized five times. Every time I go back to the treatment center, I feel defeated. However, the turning point was when I started working hard through the recovery program and building honest communication with my medical team," said Lovato, quoted by Billboard.
Lovato's move received widespread support from fans who prioritize the well-being of the idol. The tour itself is part of the promotion of the album "It's Not That Deep" (2025) which successfully perched at number nine on the Billboard 200 and topped the Top Dance Albums chart.
