Anies Should Cancel The Planned Sudirman-Thamrin Road Bike Route On Weekdays
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan plans to create a permanent road bike path on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman to MH Thamrin on a shifting basis. The special road bike lane will be opened on weekdays, namely Monday-Friday at 05.00-06.30 WIB.
However, transportation observer from the Indonesian Transportation Society (MTI), Djoko Setijowarno, considers the red carpet for road bikes on weekday mornings to be unnecessary.
Moreover, according to him, the DKI Provincial Government has facilitated the bicycle race track on the Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang Nontol Flyover on Saturday-Sunday at 05.00-08.00 WIB.
"It is better not to do this, because there are also special bicycle lanes. It is enough on holidays and weekends, namely Saturday and Sunday (at JLNT Kampung Melayu)," Djoko told VOI, Wednesday, June 2.
According to Djoko, the safety and comfort of other road users must also be considered. Moreover, said Djoko, the Velodrome Rawamangun stadium also has bicycle lanes that can be used freely.
Meanwhile, the initial purpose of facilitating cyclists on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin was as a means of transportation, not exercise. Thus, a permanent bicycle path was created.
"Actually, the bicycle lanes that have been built along Sudirman-Thamrin are intended for bicycle shifting for work every day, not for sports. If you do sports with road bikes, you have to go to the stadium, just like racing motorbikes or cars on the circuit. Not racing on the road. Raya," said Djoko.
However, if Anies continues to open a special road bike lane in Sudirman-Thamrin, Djoko asked that traffic order must be ensured while using a road bike.
"Like a maximum of two parallel bicycles, you must follow the traffic light rules at the intersection, a maximum of 10 lines in one platoon so that it is not too long. Then, at every exit from a building or office, there must be an officer on duty for fear of colliding with vehicles coming in and out. ," he said.
DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is currently drafting a governor's decision to regulate the facilities for road bike users on the Nontol Flyover (JLNT) Kampung Melayu-Tanah Abang and Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin.
This was stated by the Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta, Ahmad Riza Patria. However, the regulation is still being discussed with the Polda Metro Jaya.
"The determination of the road bike path will be regulated through a governor's decision. The draft is still being discussed in a marathon by stakeholders. This is just the result of the meeting between the Transportation Agency and the Regional Police. The provisional agreement will again be waiting for the arrangement through the governor's decision," said Riza.
However, said Riza, it does not mean that the special bike race lane will be made permanent throughout the day. Riza leaked the plan to determine the schedule for the route.
The permanent road bike lane on JLNT Kampung Melayu will be opened specifically on Saturdays and Sundays, starting from 05.00 WIB to 08.00 WIB. After that, road bike cyclists were prohibited from crossing the JLNT.
Then the permanent road bike lane on Jalan Sudirman-Thamrin is opened Monday-Friday from 05.00 WIB to 06.30 WIB. Meanwhile, bicycles other than road bikes are still required to pass on permanent bicycle lanes.
