Kaltara Prosecutor Names 3 Suspects in Corruption of ASITA Tourism Application Grant for 2021

TANJUNG SELOR - The North Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has named three suspects in the alleged corruption case (Tipikor) for the grant of the Tourism Information System Application (ASITA) in the North Kalimantan Provincial Tourism Agency for the 2021 Fiscal Year (TA).

Assistant Special Criminal Action of the Kaltara Attorney General's Office, Samiaji Zakaria said the determination of the suspects was made by the Special Criminal Action (Pidsus) Investigator of the Kaltara Attorney General's Office on Tuesday, February 10.

"The three suspects, each with the initials SMDN as Acting Head of the Tourism Service (Kadis) of the Kaltara Province for the period 2021, SF as Chairman of the Kaltara ASITA DPD for the period 2020-2025, and MI as a third party or partner for the implementation of the activity," said Samiaji.

"The two suspects were immediately detained, namely SMDN and SF, for the first 20 days at the Polresta Bulungan Detention House (Rutan). Meanwhile, the suspect MI was included in the Person Search List (DPO) because he was on the run and did not meet the investigators' call," he continued.

The suspects are suspected of violating the provisions of the criminal code of corruption as regulated in the Law on Eradication of Corruption which is associated with the provisions in the latest Criminal Code (KUHP).

"The suspects are suspected of violating the criminal provisions as stipulated in the Tipikor Law in conjunction with the provisions of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, with the primary and subsidiary suspicions which are currently still being investigated in the investigation process," he explained.

This matter relates to the grant expenditure for the creation of a tourism information system application sourced from the 2021 budget at the Kaltara Tourism Office, which is suspected of not being carried out in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations, thus causing financial losses to the state.

"Investigators ensure that the investigation process is still ongoing, including efforts to pursue the suspect MI who is currently in the DPO status," he said.
