Jakarta-Bandung Only 45 Minutes via South Japek II Toll? Here's the Explanation
JAKARTA - The Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT) of the Ministry of Public Works (PU) spoke out regarding the circulation of information that the travel time from Jakarta to Bandung is only 45 minutes, passing the Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road, after the toll road is fully operational.
Quoted from the official Instagram account @kementerianpu, Tuesday, February 10, the PU Ministry stated that the information needed to be understood properly.
His party stated that 45 minutes was an estimate of the travel time just to cross the 62 kilometer (km) South Japek II Toll Road, not the travel time from Jakarta to Bandung.
"This information needs to be understood correctly. The figure of 45 minutes is an estimated travel time to cross the toll road from the Jatiasih Toll Gate (GT) to the Sadang Toll Gate (GT) along approximately 62 km and not the travel time for the entire Jakarta-Bandung journey which has a distance of 132 km," wrote the account.
In the account, it is stated that the 45-minute travel time is based on a travel calculation at an average speed of 80 kilometers per hour to cross the South Japek II Toll Road. The estimate is also based on normal traffic without traffic jams.
"The calculation of the travel time of 45-50 minutes is based on the average speed of the planned toll road of around 80 km/hour, normal traffic conditions and travel only on the 62 km long South Japek II Toll Road," he explained.
The South Japek II Toll Road was built to reduce traffic density on existing toll roads, namely the Japek Toll and the Japek Layang Toll (MBZ).
"This route strengthens connectivity to and from Bandung and the southern part of West Java, which has been based on the main line," he added.
