LPSK Proaktif Provide Protection for Grandmother Saudah who was Abused

JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) took proactive steps in providing protection for Nenek Saudah from the beginning after the incident, without waiting for an official request from the person concerned.

"Regarding Mrs. Saudah, LPSK has taken proactive steps. We have done this a few days ago, even shortly after the incident, we have taken steps," said LPSK Chairman Achmadi at the LPSK building, Jakarta, Tuesday, February 3, reported by ANTARA.

Achmadi also emphasized that LPSK was ready to provide protection to Nenek Saudah and send a team to escort the fulfillment of her rights.

LPSK not only conducts assessments and provides protection for victims, but also coordinates with various parties to ensure that protection is comprehensive.

"LPSK is ready to provide protection, fulfillment of the rights of witnesses and victims, for the victims and for all parties. The team will also go back to the field for the sake of coordination, whether with law enforcement or with the figures there and the people there," he said.

He emphasized that all of these approaches were also carried out in order to maintain social stability and harmony in the community as well as for the interests of the victims and to ensure that the rights of witnesses and victims are fulfilled in accordance with the provisions of the Law.

"We still hope that the social harmony that has been well maintained will continue to be carried out, and also for the sake of justice, LPSK will monitor including the rights of victims. The point is," said Achmadi.

It is known that an elderly woman named Saudah was a victim of persecution allegedly following the rejection of illegal mining activities on the banks of the Batang Sibinai River, Pasaman Regency, West Sumatra since 2023.

In that case, the Pasaman Police have named one suspect with the initials IS alias MK.
