Natalius Pigai Showed to the Indonesian DPR to Become President of the Human Rights Council: Breaking the Record, 50 Years Later We Will Become the UN Secretary-General

JAKARTA - Human Rights Minister (HAM) Natalius Pigai showed the government's achievements to the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR). Pigai said, Indonesia under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto managed to break a record by serving as President of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

This was conveyed by Pigai in a working meeting with Commission XIII of the DPR which discussed the work program and budget of the Ministry of Home Affairs 2026 at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, February 2.

"Various achievements we can convey briefly are quite a lot. But one thing I want to say, 80 years of Indonesian independence, the Republic of Indonesia is independent, so many presidents, only Prabowo Subianto, the first president of the Republic of Indonesia who leads the world's multilateral institutions, namely the President of the United Nations Human Rights Council," said Natalius Pigai.

"This is the first time that the world record has been broken, this is the first time, the Asia Pacific has never led the first time. The UN agency again, sir," continued the former human rights activist.

Pigai said that this success was the hard work of the Ministry of Human Rights which was supported by the Commission XIII of the DPR RI. With today's achievement, Pigai believes that in the next 50 years Indonesia will become the Secretary-General (Sekjen) of the United Nations.

"I think it's one of the achievements, if someone wants to compete later we'll see, 50 years later will we become the Secretary-General of the United Nations? Because today what we have achieved is below number two under the Secretary-General of the United Nations," he said.

"Therefore, if someone says yes, I am proud of the Ministry of Human Rights for being able to present a prestigious achievement, in the midst of a new ministry," added Pigai.
