Menpora Asks Makassar PSM Supporters Not To Be Noisy! Mattoanging Stadium Project After Prof NA's Death Continues

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman ensured that the construction of the Mattoanging Stadium in Makassar will continue.

After meeting the Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) Zainudin Amali at the Kemenpora office, Andi Sudirman said the regional and provincial governments would continue to work and synergize in carrying out the construction of stadiums as supporting facilities for national strategic programs.

“Friends definitely know how upset Makassar PSM supporters are. So we convey that we will continue the construction of the Mattoanging Stadium," Andi said at a virtual press conference in Jakarta, quoted by ERA.id, Monday, May 31.

Andi Sudirman explained that the capacity of Mattoanging Stadium, which was originally planned to accommodate 40 thousand spectators, will now be redesigned for 20 thousand spectators. The adjustment was made because it followed FIFA standards.

Phase one of the stadium construction, he continued, is targeted to be implemented next year. However, he did not mention in detail how much the budget allocation from the APBD is planned for its construction.

Meanwhile, Menpora Zainudin Amali asked all PSM Makassar supporters to maintain a conducive atmosphere. The Minister of Youth and Sports ensured that the construction of the Mattoanging Stadium would definitely continue.

"My message to Makassar PSM supporters in South Sulawesi is to maintain conduciveness and support the governor and the provincial government because they will definitely work on the Makassar PSM homebase," said Zainudin Amali.

"Don't be noisy and cause things that will eventually disturb the local government, which is currently designing as good as possible so that the stadium can meet FIFA standards. So let's support the governor to finish the stadium," said the Minister of Youth and Sports.

Previously, a number of PSM Makassar supporters last weekend held a demonstration in front of the South Sulawesi DPRD Office in Makassar. They urged the local government to continue the construction of the Mattoanging Stadium.
