Dewi Gita Hadirkam "Jalir Janji", Soundtrack with Ethnic Flavor for the Film Lastri: Arwah Kembang Desa

JAKARTA - Abelle Pictures officially introduced "Jalir Janji" as the soundtrack for their latest horror film, "Lastri: Arwah Kembang Desa".

This song with ethnic nuances was born from the cold hands of Dewi Gita, after previously Armand Maulana was asked to be its creator.

Initially, Audy Bella as the Executive Producer wanted Armand Maulana to compose the soundtrack for the film directed by Hendri Tivo. However, the film's character, which raises the Pati, Central Java urban legend, with a strong traditional atmosphere, is more in tune with Dewi Gita's musicality.

"Actually, Bella asked Armand to make the song. Then Armand said, 'But this is the horror of the film'. There must be a kind of sinden-sinden. Yes, my husband seems to have never been there," said Dewi Gita at a press conference in Senopati, South Jakarta, Thursday, January 29.

In the end, Dewi Gita was the most appropriate choice to bring the soundtrack for this film - which is not just a complement to the scene, but the soul of the wounded Lastri character.

In the process of writing the song, Dewi spent about two months to meditate in order to get the right melody and lyrics. He had to study the synopsis many times so that the traditional elements that he tried to present could blend with the mystical pop melody.

The process in writing this soundtrack is admitted to be much more difficult than creating a normal love song because it has to unite the vision with the director and the film's storyline.

"The song 'Jalir Janji' talks about promises that are left behind, about feelings that are tied, and wounds that are not finished. When reading Lastri's story, I immediately felt that the music had to have an ethnic spirit and silence, but it could still be felt universally," said Dewi.

Etymologically, "Jalir Janji" is taken from the Sundanese language which means breaking a promise. When asked to describe the song in one word, Dewi firmly said "betrayal". This is in line with the premise of the film which combines elements of drama, sadness, and gripping horror.

Film producer, Joe Richard, considers the presence of this song to be very vital. According to him, "Jalir Janji" gives life to the emotions of a film that is silent and full of mystery.

"From the beginning we felt that Lastri needed a song that had a sense, not just beautiful musically. 'Jalir Janji' by Dewi Gita gives life to the emotions of a silent, sad, and mysterious film. This soundtrack is part of Lastri's journey. We are proud to present a work that is strong in terms of story and music," said Joe.

In line with Joe, Audy Bella admitted that he immediately felt connected since he first heard the demo of the song. He judged the lyrics represented the unspoken feelings of love and loss in the film.

"When I first heard the demo of the song, I immediately felt this was Lastri. The music and lyrics seem to represent the feelings of the characters in the film about love, loss, and unspoken promises. Hopefully 'Jalir Janji' can accompany the audience, not only when watching the film, but also after leaving the cinema," said Bella.

The song "Jalir Janji" can now be enjoyed through the official YouTube channel and will be included in Dewi Gita's upcoming new compilation album.

Meanwhile, for horror lovers, the film Lastri: Arwah Kembang Desa is scheduled to terrorize the big screen throughout Indonesia after the 2026 Lebaran season.
