Malaysia Lifts Block on Grok After X Improves Security

JAKARTA - After blocking Grok's access a few weeks ago, Malaysia finally lifted the restrictions. Now, people in the country can access the chatbotGrok owned by xAI.

According to a report by Reuters, X managed to implement additional security measures that were stricter in accordance with government directives. Therefore, the temporary blocking that had been implemented was finally stopped.

Previously, Grok received attention from many countries, including communication regulators in Malaysia, because of its editing capabilities.

However, xAI and X do not apply restrictions on this ability. Chatbots available on the X platform are often misused to create and share sexually charged images that mostly target women.

Minors are also victims of Grok's vulgar image editing. Seeing this ability, Indonesia also blocked Grok for a while until the chat bot proved to implement stricter restrictions.

The Malaysian communications regulator confirmed that all access restrictions were lifted on January 23. This decision was made after X showed evidence of improved security systems in its technology.

Until now, there have been no specific details regarding the technical details of the security applied by X. The exact time period for the initial blocking to begin has also not been explained in detail to the public.
