SAR Team Rescues Fishermen Victims of a Capsized Boat on Lamp Island
PANGKAL PINANG - The Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel) joint SAR team managed to evacuate three fishermen who were victims of a ship sinking in the waters of Lampu Belinyu Island, Bangka Regency, due to being hit by big waves and bad weather.
"Alhamdulillah, the three victims were able to survive and with this success the SAR operation was declared closed," said the Head of the Basarnas Pangkalpinang Office Mikel Rachman Junika in Pangkalpinang, Saturday.
He said the joint SAR team, divided into two Search and Rescue Units (SRU), managed to evacuate three fishermen on behalf of Iskandar (32), Aldiansyah (30) and Ajis (28), on Lampu Island and brought them to Mantung Port, Belnyu District, Bangka Regency.
"The joint team managed to evacuate Iskandar and Aldiansyah who survived on Lampu Island and brought them to Mantung Wharf. The good news came shortly afterwards, where the third victim, Ajis, who had lost contact was found safe by residents after successfully swimming to Penyusuk Beach," he said.
He stated that this incident began when the ship, which was manned by three people, departed from the Mantung Belinyu Pier to the Pesaren Beach waters at 11.05 WIB.
However, when passing through the waters of Lampu Island, he continued, their ship was hit by high waves until it sank. The three victims were forced to swim to save themselves.
"Two victims on behalf of Iskandar and Aldiansyah managed to swim to Lampu Island. Meanwhile, his colleague, Ajis, was separated and was not seen behind them," he said.
Receiving a report of a request for assistance from the survivors, the Pangkalpinang SAR Office immediately deployed a rescue team from the Belinyu SAR Standby Unit (USS). This operation involves a joint element from the Indonesian Navy, the Babel Police's Ditpolairud, the Bangka Police's Satpolair, the Belinyu Police, and local fishermen.
"In the search for victims, the team was divided into two SRUs. The Sea SRU used the SBU boat belonging to the Babel Police to Lampu Island, while the Land SRU combed towards Penyusuk Beach," he said.
