Cliff Burton's Signature Bass Re-Presented After 40 Years

JAKARTA - Good news for Metallica fans and music instrument collectors around the world. Japanese music instrument manufacturer Aria has officially announced plans to re-launch the series of signature basses owned by the late Cliff Burton.

This step was taken as a form of respect and to commemorate the four decades of the death of the genius bass player who became the pillar of Metallica during 1982-1986.

Aria Pro II Cliff Burton Signature Bass SB-CLB is scheduled to debut at the prestigious NAMM Show in California, USA, before finally being released to the global market in the coming spring.

Launching Blabbermouth, Aria said, this special model was designed to honor the legacy and breakthroughs that Burton had created during his life. Despite carrying the spirit of nostalgia, this instrument was also created with adjustments to meet the needs of today's generation.

The return of this bass is very emotional considering Cliff Burton's central role in shaping the foundation of Metallica's music on their first three albums, "Kill 'Em All", "Ride The Lightning", and "Master Of Puppets".

In terms of specifications, this instrument is a precision replica of the Black 'N Gold I bass that is identical to Cliff Burton's figure on stage. The details of the work are carried out very carefully, starting from the use of a neck-through with a seven-layer construction of maple and walnut wood, to the heel-less design that makes it easier to access high frets. The headstock includes a patent statement on the front and Cliff Burton's official signature on the back as proof of authenticity.

For the sound business, this bass is armed with an Aria MB-V passive pickup, a single volume control, a tone control, and a dual mini-toggle sound switch that is capable of producing an iconic sound character.

Cliff Burton's legacy is timeless even though he was gone due to a tragic tour bus accident in Sweden in 1986. His influence is still felt strongly to this day, both through songs like "For Whom The Bell Tolls" and "Orion", as well as through formal awards such as the designation of February 10 as "Cliff Burton Day" by the Alameda County region in 2018.

The return of Aria Pro II Signature is not just a product sale, but an effort to keep the flame of the legend alive in the hands of world musicians. Each purchase of this bass unit will also be equipped with a signed certificate of authenticity and an exclusive ostrich leather suitcase.
