Black Box of ATR Aircraft that Fell on Mount Bulusaraung Found
MAKASSAR - The joint SAR team finally found a black box behind the tail of an ATR 42-500 aircraft with the registration number PK-THT belonging to PT Indonesia Air Transport (IAT) in the Bulusaraung mountain area, Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi.
"Alhamdulillahirrohbilalamin, we are grateful together at 11.00 WITA, we were able to successfully find the black box," said Assistant Operations Kodam XIV Hasanuddin Colonel Inf Dody Triyo Hadi as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, January 21.
The discovery of the two units was found by a team formed specifically to search for the tail of the aircraft. After finding the tail of the aircraft, the joint SAR team released the position of the black box to be evacuated to the AJU SAR Post at Tompobulu.
"We can let go of it and head to the post in Tompobulu Village. There is (a black box) in the tail section of the plane. So, yesterday we had visually identified it, but we haven't headed to the location," he said, accompanied by the Head of Operations and Standby Basarnas Makassar Andi Sultan.
Dody explained that the tail position had been known the day before. Because the weather was not possible with the field culture to make it difficult, it was lowered. After being tightened, a special team was formed to check directly at the location.
"Alhamdulillah, this morning the team was able to go to the location and finally was able to check the tail piece directly. The position is not detached, it is still intact. Visually sent via video on the ground. We see and suspect it's a black box," he said.
He explained that before this joint SAR special team evacuated the black box, he continued, education had been delivered by the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) regarding its characteristics.
"But we still discuss the suspicion. Later we will hand it over to our friends at KNKT to confirm it. However, the physical form and video sent have been confirmed. Meanwhile, we say it is a black box, the shape is intact," he explained.
This discovery will still be asked for guidance from the leadership and Basarnas as well as the next steps. The black box will be brought to the post to ensure.
