10 Suspected Terrorists Arrested, They Wanted To Suicide In Several Churches In Meraukeau

JAKARTA - The Densus 88 Anti-terror team has arrested 10 suspected terrorists in Merauke, Papua, after being suspected of planning to carry out a suicide bombing.

Reported by Antara, Saturday, May 29, Merauke Police Chief AKBP Untung Sangaji admitted that the 10 suspected terrorists had been detained since Friday, May 28.

They are suspected of carrying out suicide bombings at a number of churches in Merauke, Jagebob, Kurik, Semangga, and Tanah Miring.

However, because the members were already on alert, their action could not be realized, said Untung while asking reporters to be patient because it was still under investigation.

When asked where the group came from, the Merauke Police Chief again asked to be patient because the members were still working.

"What is certain is that they were secured from several locations around Merauke," said AKBP Untung without wanting to explain further.
