Viral BMW Passenger with the Ministry of Defense Plate Smoking, Ministry of Defense: Fake Number Plate
JAKARTA - A BMW car with a fake Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) license plate number 51692-00 whose driver smoked was found to be using a fake number plate.
"The white BMW sedan with the Ministry of Defense license plate 51692-00, the Ministry of Defense confirms that the number plate is fake and invalid, and has never been given permission to use it," said the Head of the General Bureau of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, First Marshal TNI Toni Setiawan in a press statement received in Jakarta, Monday, quoted by Antara.
Toni explained that the service vehicle in the Ministry of Defense environment was black and the BMW sedan was not included in the list of service vehicle inventory.
Based on the search for inventory data from the General Bureau of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense, it is clear that the number plate 51692-00 is no longer registered because its validity has expired.
Based on the data he held, the number plate was once used officially by Major General TNI (Ret.) Sudibyo when he served as Vice Rector I of the Indonesian Defense University.
"However, the use permit expires on June 1, 2025 and is not extended. The same number plate was misused on a Toyota Fortuner vehicle and went viral around the beginning of 2025," explained Toni.
He added that currently his party is coordinating with the TNI Military Police, Polri, and regional law enforcement officers to carry out discipline.
