Super League 2025/2026 results: Persita Hajar Borneo FC, the competition at the top is getting tighter

JAKARTA - The competition for the top of the 2025/2026 Super League standings is getting fiercer following Borneo FC's defeat in the 17th week from Persita Tangerang.

The second meeting between the two teams took place at the Indomilk Arena Stadium on Friday, January 9, 2026, afternoon WIB. Facing Borneo as the leader of the standings did not make Persita flinch.

The status of the host was tried to be used by Pendekar Cisadane to dominate the match. The effort bore fruit because Persita managed to take the lead 1-0 when the match was only four minutes.

Persita's opening goal was created by a hard shot from Javlon Guseynov from outside the penalty area, taking advantage of a short pass from Hokky Caraka.

Persita should have been ahead more if their three golden opportunities were able to be completed perfectly. Unfortunately, all three opportunities still hit the post and the crossbar.

Until the first half injury time, the home team's lead still remained.

In the second half, Borneo FC tried to increase the intensity of the attack to catch up. However, Persita's defense was solid and able to put pressure.

Instead of catching up, Borneo was even further behind. The hosts added to the lead through a penalty. Andreij Aleksa's measured execution gave Persita a 2-0 lead until the end of the match.

Even though they lost three points, currently Borneo FC is still at the top with 37 points. Meanwhile, the second and third positions are occupied by Persija and Persib, which both have 35 points.

This result makes the top-of-the-table competition heating up. Borneo FC's position at the top of the standings is vulnerable if one of Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta can win in their clash at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api Stadium on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
