JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK will work on a post-disaster emergency handling package in several areas of North Sumatra Province (Sumut). At least, there are 11 regencies/cities that will be handled.

Among others, Asahan Regency; Batu Bara; Deli Serdang; Langkat; North Padang Lawas; Serdang Bedagai; Toba; and Binjai City; Medan City; Tanjung Balai City; and Tebing Tinggi City.

The work is aimed at accelerating the recovery of community activities and ensuring that public services resume after floods and landslides in North Sumatra Province.

EVP Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya Mardiansyah explained that the scope of the main work was focused on handling and restoring various strategic public facilities affected by the disaster.

"The focus includes health facilities so that emergency services and community medical services can resume functioning as well as educational facilities to support the continuation of learning and teaching activities and the recovery of school activities in the affected areas," said Mardiansyah as quoted from a written statement, Tuesday, January 6.

In addition to the basic service sector, handling also includes supporting facilities for the social and economic life of the community. Later, the company will also handle the restoration of facilities in the market area to accelerate the recovery of the economic activities of residents and the distribution chain of daily necessities while supporting the condition of the market environment that is safe and usable again.

In the social-religious and community services aspect, the package includes handling pesantren and worship facilities.

The work in this category is expected to restore social activity spaces for the community, including coaching activities, community-based learning, and worship activities which are an important part of post-disaster social resilience.

The scope also includes handling government offices so that administrative services and government coordination in affected areas can resume effectively. Beyond that, there are other strategic infrastructure categories that allow handling to be carried out on important facilities that are crucial and needed immediately according to field conditions.

"With his experience and capacity in building infrastructure, we are optimistic that we can complete this package of work with good quality and in accordance with the expectations of all parties," he said.

Mardiansyah claimed that his party placed the quality of implementation and safety management as a priority so that the recovery process could run orderly, safely and provide results that could immediately be utilized by the community.

"Post-disaster handling requires speed and accuracy. We are committed to carrying out work by prioritizing safety, quality and accelerating the recovery of public facility functions so that the community can return to activities safely," he added.
